Gentle Adventure Walks Rating System

Easy: a Walk in the Park.

These walks are along level, smooth trails that have a wide and well compacted surface. All walks require proper footwear, but an easy walk can be done in sturdy athletic shoes.

Intermediate: a Demanding but Gentle Adventure.

An intermediate walk is on dirt trails with generally well compacted surfaces but with the occasional rocky and uneven surface to negotiate. The intermediate trails will take us up and over hills and now and again across a creek. A sturdy walking shoe or boot is needed.

Challenging: You May Need to Push Yourself.

A difficult trail is rocky and uneven for much of its length. There are often steep sections which may require you to use your hands and there is almost always a water crossing on a difficult trail. Heavy walking shoes or boots are needed on these trails and sometimes sandals are needed to cross a creek. Walking sticks are a good option.
