Beth Hestick: Well Seasoned Rambler
Beth grew up in West Virginia where she spent summers tramping through fields and woods and she has never outgrown this love for the open sky. She has hiked and climbed in the mountains in many places, but loves coming home to West Virginia, where she has put in miles and miles of foot travel and back country skiing.
Joe Hestick: Seasoned Rambler
Joe began his outdoor adventures at Seneca Rocks, West Virginia, where he learned all of the necessary techniques needed to become a safe and respected climber. Since that time he has climbed, backpacked and skied whenever the opportunity has arisen and wherever his sense of adventure has led. Joe spends his free time at the many cragging, hiking and biking areas in West Virginia.
These walks are along level, smooth trails that have a wide and well compacted surface. All walks require proper footwear, but an easy walk can be done in sturdy athletic shoes.
An intermediate walk is on dirt trails with generally well compacted surfaces but with the occasional rocky and uneven surface to negotiate. The intermediate trails will take us up and over hills and now and again across a creek. A sturdy walking shoe or boot is needed.
A difficult trail is rocky and uneven for much of its length. There are often steep sections which may require you to use your hands and there is almost always a water crossing on a difficult trail. Heavy walking shoes or boots are needed on these trails and sometimes sandals are needed to cross a creek. Walking sticks are a good option.
